ESA-led mission NewAthena will be the largest X-ray space telescope ever built. It will investigate some of the hottest and most energetic phenomena in the Universe with unprecedented accuracy and depth. The telescope will be accessible to astronomers globally, therefore the mission is expected have a revolutionary impact on almost every corner of modern astrophysics. NewAthena is expected to make breakthrough advances in a wide range of topics, including neutron stars, star-planet interactions, supernovae and their remnants, electromagnetic counterparts to gravitational wave sources, accreting black holes, galaxy clusters, and large-scale cosmic structures.
